Pre-trip Excitement

Books? Check! Clothes? Check! My mind? Ehhhh it's around here somewhere...

It is the day before heading out to New York and, truthfully, I am feeling a bit all over the place. My whole week has been very hectic; the distant thought of New York was one of solace, and really helped me survive this week. I am extremely excited but also quite stressed. I've been looking forward to this trip for what seems like forever, but at the same time I am worried I will miss packing something that I will badly need. However though, packing wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Once I drafted up a list of what I needed to pack, I was well on my way. I --shockingly-- was able to fit everything in my luggage, with room to fit a few new things from the East Coast.

Another big part of my hectic week has been staying on top of the reading (which is over one thousand pages if you were curious). The books look quite interesting; the one I am currently reading, called Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely, is a very engaging read. It talks about the ways in which we think in a commercial society and how easily we can trick ourselves into thinking we need certain things. I was glad to find that I actually enjoyed the reading material! I hope that the class is just as interesting!

Today, I also received an email from Don that included a more updated itinerary packed with exact information on what fascinating adventures are planned for each day. The first week, my cohort has practically one dinner scheduled every night with students/alums of each college that we visited the same day. The ample branching out opportunities the ILC has and will be providing is something I truly appreciate. I remember meeting so many great people at the La Folie dinner; I know that the dinners scheduled for this week will be just as awesome!

It's crazy to think that in less than 12 hours I will be on a plane to Boston, on the adventure of my life. I am going to digest that thought some more. And maybe sleep, because I have to meet everyone heading to the airport at 3 am. No, I am definitely going to sleep.
