It was another exciting day for me. I did my typical morning
routine, showering, dressing, getting breakfast, going to class, etc. I wasn’t
expecting anything great to really happen. I thought that it was just going to
be a chill day where I would be spending time in my dorm. Class had been
somewhat uneventful but I’m able to participate a lot more now that I feel
comfortable. I enjoy talking about the Supreme Court cases and seeing how they
set a precedent. I think that my professor also does a good job of engaging our
class and leading us through group discussions. Although class is somewhat of a
review of my AP U.S. history course, it really does go in depth and cover a lot
of topics that my high school teacher skimmed over.
After class ended, I decided to go on an RA trip to the
Fashion Institute of Technology. I didn’t know anyone when I originally signed
up for the trip and didn’t know what to expect. I know that I do want to branch
out here and get to know as many people as possible. I had a great time there
and I met two other girls, one named Frances and another named Pamela. Afterwards,
we went to Korea Town and explored the city a bit more. Korea Town has lots of cool
things and it reminded me of San Francisco’s Japan Town. We ended up at the
largest Macy’s/store in the world and got to see all the departments as well
and the both of them shared with me some interesting personal stories about
being Chinese and what their culture is like while living in America. J
When I came back to my dorm, I stayed up pretty late getting
my readings done and conversing with my roommates. They seem to be having a lot
of fun as well on the RA trips that are offered here. I think that the school community
that we have here is pretty friendly and adventurous. I love being apart of it
and taking my class here.
