Great View, Great Friends

More and more, I am starting to get a deeper understanding of economics, and I am really starting to enjoy the class!

Today we further discussed stocks, bonds, and interest. What makes understanding those concepts easier are all the silly stories my TA uses to explain the topics. Those funny examples always keep me engaged in class! I also like that lots of people are willing to participate in class. By having them paraphrase concepts, I understand the topic in a different way as well.

Since I did not have too much homework today, I decided to go on the RA trip to High Line (a train track redesigned into a park) with a few people on my floor. The weather today was so ideal to go- it was not too hot or not too cold! We also were there to see sunset, which was spectacular. The park itself overlooks much of the area surrounding the place (called Chelsea); there were new, contemporary apartment buildings, old, run down apartment buildings, shops, and restaurants surrounding the elevated park. After walking the whole park from beginning to end, we decided to browse around the shops for just a little bit before catching the subway back. The area was so hip and trendy! Boutiques were sprinkled along the blocks, along with small hole-in-the-wall restaurants that were drowning with customers.

Not only did I appreciate the scenery from High Line park, but I appreciated the company that came along with me. Since coming to this program, all my dorm mates and I haven't had much time to really bond and get to know each other, so being able to go on this trip with them was really fun! I definitely feel closer to all of them. As I mentioned in a previous blog, the dynamic of the group is really unbeatable; we all have endless conversation and get along so well together.

Today was definitely not one of my happiest days, but ending the day on such a positive note really made me feel better. I can't believe that tomorrow is already Friday! The days are starting to go by so quickly now, I just hope they can slow down so I can catch up.

  1. I'm so glad you got this chance to spend time with your dorm mates and see the High Line Park. I'm looking forward to getting over there and seeing it myself!
